Mud Flat Cowboy

With Apologies to Glen Campbell

I've been paddling these seas so long
Singin' the same old song
I know every crack in these dried up mud flats of Maine
Where getting muddy's the name of the game
And new glass boats never quite look the same
There's been a load of compromisin'
On the road to my horizon
But I'm gonna be where the waves are rolling under me

Like a mud flat cowboy
Slogging out with my yak cross the flats of the tidal zone
Like a mud flat cowboy
Getting clams and mussels stuck between my toes
And mud coming up to my groin

Well, I really don't mind the mud
And a smile can hide all the crud
But you're down when you're paddlin' a boat that's caught in a tide pool
And I dream of the things I'll see
When the tide comes in, and wind's be-hind me
There'll be a load of compromisin'
On the road to my horizon
But I'm gonna be where the waves are rolling under me

Like a mud flat cowboy
Slogging out with my yak cross the flats of the tidal zone
Mud flat cowboy
Gettin' clams and mussels stuck between my toes
And mud coming up to my groin

Like a mud flat cowboy
Slogging out with my yak cross the flats of the tidal zone

Mud flat cowboy
Gettin' clams and mussels stuck between my toes
